Dr. Cole Chavis
Dr. Chavis grew up in the upstate of SC in a small town outside of Clemson called Walhalla. After high school, she attended Clemson University and then went on to get her veterinary degree from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL. Since graduation in 2005, she has worked primarily in the Lowcountry and the majority of that time has been in the greater Charleston area. Her professional interests include dentistry, dermatology, and behavior. She also really enjoys working with her feline patients.
Dr. Chavis has two children, ages 5 and 8 as well as an American Bulldog named Tillman and 2 cats, Rosie and Krampus. When she's not at work, she loves to be outside. She enjoys doing lots of activities with her kids, pulling for the Clemson Tigers and enjoying the sunshine as much as possible. While busy adventures are great fun for her, she also enjoys the quiet and stillness involved with reading a great book.
Dr. Chavis says her favorite thing about her job at James Island Veterinary Hospital is the family atmosphere. While work keeps everyone busy, everyone also supports each other through trials and celebrations at home. "I hope every one of our clients truly feels the sincerity of our care and they sense our genuine desire to treat pets like family."
